Caroline Wimmer of Staten Island Found DeadMarch 31st, 2009 - 7:51 pm ICT by GD
A 26-year old woman was found dead in West Brighton in Staten Island and had a hair dryer cord wrapped around her neck, according to law enforcement agencies.
Her parents had not heard from her since Saturday and went to her 196 Greenleaf Avenue home to check on her and found her dead.
Her mother, Marty Wimmer said, “I walked in and found the door ajar. My husband had stayed in the car. I sensed something was wrong. Then I found her. It’s every parent’s nightmare.” The victim’s father Robert Wimmer, 62, said, “I just want the police to find whoever did this.”
The mother found her daughter dead on the bathroom floor of her apartment at about 12.30 pm with the blow dryer cord around her neck. The police have not said if Wimmer was strangled with the cord or if it was placed around her neck after she died. Her death has not yet been called a homicide and an autopsy is expected today.
Neighbors said they had heard two women fighting inside Wimmer’s apartment on Saturday. They also told the police about a troubled ex-boyfriend who had tried to break into Wimmer’s house six months ago.
No one had heard from Wimmer since late Saturday but she seems to have logged into her MySpace account - titled Good Girl Turned Bitch - featuring an ironic message now - “I will survive whatever life has to throw at me, I am ready and stronger than ever. Nothing or nobody will hold me back.”
Caroline Wimmer’s brother Angelo, 40, had died in a car crash in November.
