London, April 20 (ANI): If sources are to be believed, Carla Bruni might not attend the Cannes premiere of her film debut over fears that appearing at the glamorous event could damage her husband Nicolas Sarkozy’s image and chances of re-election next year.

“Those close to Carla are saying she is considering not attending the festival in Cannes,” the Telegraph quoted a source as telling Le Parisien newspaper.

“This kind of appearance may not go down too well with voters in the current economic climate.

“He has been trying to play down his bling image, and having his wife acting the movie star at the Cannes Film Festival is not going to help,” the source added.

It also comes after last week’s announcement that La Conquete (The Conquest), a biopic charting the rise of French President, had been selected for the festival. (ANI)
