Capello warns Carroll to cut down on drinks
March 29th, 2011 - 2:39 pm ICT by ANILondon, Mar. 29 (ANI): England football team coach Fabio Capello has ordered striker Andy Carrol to stop drinking.
Carroll will make only his second senior international appearance in Tuesday’s friendly against Ghana at Wembley.
According to the Daily Mail, Capello sees the 35 million pound Liverpool forward as a key member of his squad and has responded to some of the 22-year-old’s off-field problems by telling him ‘to drink less’.
“I spoke with him. Privately. I think not only Andy likes to drink beer. But he needs to improve, to drink less,” Capello said.
On Tuesday evening, Capello will make seven changes to the team which beat Wales on Saturday, and his captain will be Gareth Barry.
The Italian will stick with a 4-3-3 formation and confirmed that Gary Cahill, Phil Jagielka and Leighton Baines will start in defence with Wilshere or Scott Parker in a new midfield three. (ANI)
