Canadian diplomat denied permission to meet Asma JehangirNovember 14th, 2007 - 10:19 am ICT by admin
The Canadian diplomat drove to her house to meet her and to discuss the human rights situation in Pakistan, but policemen stationed outside her home sent him away.
Jehangir’s house has been declared a sub-jail because she is under house arrest.
Coghlan had approached the Punjab Government for permission to meet the HRCP chairperson, but to no avail.
HRCP Director IA Rehman said the HRCP has condemned the denial of permission to the Canadian diplomat to meet Jehangir, the Daily Times reported.
He said that such practices would ruin Pakistan’s world image.
Earlier, Coughlan had visited the HRCP office and talked to IA Rehman on the prevailing situation of human rights in the country.
Norwegian Ambassador Aud Marit Wiig also visited the HRCP office earlier in the day. (ANI)
