calLos Angeles, Dec 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Residents of California are reeling under the onslaught of incessant rains that has resulted in extensive flooding, mudslides across large parts of the U.S. state. There was hardly any kind of welcoming news for the residents of the state with the weather forecasters predicting the arrival of another storm that was expected to wreck further havoc in extensive regions of California. However, fortunately as of yet, it seems that the second storm has subsided while the authorities are grappling to come to terms with the huge damage that has been caused by the inclement weather conditions.

In the wake of the flooding, mudslides as well as the large scale evacuations, a state of emergency has been declared in many parts of California by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. With the torrential rains continuing for the fifth consecutive day, as many as six counties across the state would witness a state of emergency to bring the scenario under control. While talking to reporters, California Department of Forestry spokesperson Bill Peters revealed that an estimated 40 homes have been completely destroyed in the San Bernardino County community after two rivers in the region overflowed due to the heavy rainfall.

It hardly needs to said that after-effects of the adverse weather condition has thrown the Christmas plans of the California residents completely out of gear wit major parts of the state witnessing widespread evacuations to minimize the damage. Officials have stated that as many as 232 houses in the foothills of Los Angeles’ suburbs has been asked to evacuate with fears of mudslides looming large for the residents.
