London, July 28 (ANI): US octuplets mom Nadya Suleman will now have a guardian to look after the financial interests of her children, born in January, after a ruling by a judge in California.

The appointment came after an announcement was made that Suleman had signed a deal allowing her children to appear in a reality TV show, which will allow the 14 youngsters to collectively earn 250,000 dollars, the BBC reports.

The six boys and two girls are the world’s longest surviving octuplets, and the series will also feature Suleman’s six other children, none of whom is older than eight.

But they will not be followed 24 hours a day, though the programmes will document certain milestones in their lives, such as birthdays and special events, over three years.

The judge appointed a guardian to oversee the estate of the octuplets at the request of an advocate for children in entertainment.

Fifteen per cent of the income will be placed in a trust for the children to access when they reach 18 years of age.

Suleman, 33, is a single, unemployed mother. Her decision to conceive through in vitro fertilisation was criticised by some fertility experts and commentators. (ANI)
