Bus plunges into ditch in Bangladesh
July 17th, 2011 - 7:04 pm ICT by IANSDhaka, July 17 (IANS) Many passengers of a bus in Bangladesh have gone missing since Sunday morning after it fell into a ditch near this capital city, the Daily Star reported.
The bus was carrying about 30 people when it plunged into a water-filled ditch at Dakshin Khan, 16 km from Dhaka.
The bus, which was enroute to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Kanchpur, fell into the ditch at about 6 a.m., said Khandakar Mustafizur Rahman, operation officer of Dakshin Khan police station.
Firefighters, who were rushed to the accident site for help, almost pulled the drowned bus out of the ditch in the afternoon but no bodies were found inside the vehicle till afternoon.
A rescue operation was on to trace the whereabouts of the missing passengers.
