dinner Buckinghamshire, Sep 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A British inventor - Perry Watkins may have just set the record for the fastest furniture. But his record needs to be examined by officials of the Guinness World Records, before it can be entered into the famous book.

If it is successful, Watkins furniture will replace Edd China’s motorized sofa as the fastest furniture in the world. China’s furniture set the record after it reached a speed of 92mph in 2007. However Perry Watkins dining room furniture sped to a max speed of 130mph and it averaged 113mph on a 500m track.

The furniture, which is named - Fast Food, is made with a Reliant Scimitar sports car chassis and a Land Rover Discovery fuel injected 4 liter engine. The exhaust fumes from the furniture escapes through two silver spoons that are attached to the table.

After trying the vehicle, Watkins say he felt the car was traveling at a speed of 200mph.

Perry Watkins is a 47-year-old sales director of a high street shoe repairer shop. He said after the record attempt that, “It was actually worse than I thought it would be. It felt like 200mph. The tablecloth was flapping away and I was trying to spot the finish line. It was quite difficult. Driving the car was extremely scary, I was only doing 90mph at the beginning of the timed run, but by time I crossed the finish line I was going at over 130mph.”
