London, Feb. 7 (ANI): If David Cameron wins the UK General Election, he will have one glamorous incentive with the keys to 10 Downing Street, as Carla Bruni may join Nicolas Sarkozy in greeting the Conservative leader.
The French ambassador has disclosed that Nicolas Sarkozy is to visit London shortly after the expected polling day amid rumours that he will be accompanied by his alluring wife, Carla Bruni.”The president is going to come for the anniversary of De Gaulle’s appeal in June,” The Telegraph quoted French Ambassador Maurice Gourdault-Montagne, as saying.
Last year, the ambassador said the French first lady was not expected to join Sarkozy on his next visit to this country, but diplomatic sources suggest that she will come if the Tory leaders enters 10 Downing Street.
“She would, of course, want to meet the new prime minister,” says my source.
June is the 60th anniversary of Charles de Gaulle’s radio address, in which he exhorted the French to resist Nazi Germany.
Bruni is said to have left Gordon Brown’s wife, Sarah, underwhelmed during the couple’s state visit last year.
Brown said she was “bemused” when Bruni subsequently posted an unflattering drawing of her on the singer’s website. (ANI)
