London, Dec 13 (ANI): French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy is suing a clothing company in a bid to stop it from selling a shopping bag featuring a photo of the beauty in the nude.

Bruni, who married French President Nicolas Sarkozy in February this year, has also demanded 125,000 Euros in damages from the company.

The amount will be given to charity, revealed her lawyers.

Pardon! the clothing chain producing the bag is based in Reunion, an island in the Indian Ocean, which is an overseas department of France.

The bag features Brunis nude image, taken in 1993, and is accompanied by a speech bubble reading, “My bloke should”ve bought me clothes from Pardon”.

Pardon! is selling the bag for 3 Euros and it is also free with a purchase over 5 Euros.

“This bag is an attack on Mme Bruni-Sarkozy’’s image without her consent and [is produced] purely for commercial reasons,” The Independent quoted her lawyer, Maitre Iqbal Akhoun, as saying.

However, the clothing company maintains that it didnt offend Bruni for she was “a woman in the public eye”.

The case will be examined on December 15. (ANI)
