98584316A community college located in the Dallas area that serves over 12000 students had to be locked down for a hour on Monday when the cops got a report that a student with suicidal tendencies locked himself in a bathroom in the campus. Reportedly the student had a gun with him. Brookhaven College was later reopened after the police had carried out a search. He was traced later by the cops near his apartment and he did not have a gun at that time as the cops said. The student was taken for mental evaluation to Parkland Memorial Hospital as was confirmed by Janice Crowther a Dallas police spokeswoman.

In the apartment of the student the cops found .22-caliber cartridges. The gun however could not be retrieved. The students as well a the faculty at the college were just leaving the morning classes when the lock-down took place. As a matter of fact it was the girlfriend of that student who had made an emergency call to the cops and said that he was trying to commit suicide inside the bathroom. The campus police was soon notified of the news by the Dallas Police who started searching the campus bathrooms. The Dallas police traced the student by means of his cell phone and came to know that he was no longer in the college campus.

The classmates of the student said that he had attended a couple of classes on the morning that day an his behavior did not seem normal. This incident follows a sad development at University of Texas where a student had killed himself after opening fire.
