Brits rename themselves Luscious Lemons, General Ninja Ant!December 28th, 2008 - 11:09 am ICT by ANI
London, December 28 (ANI): A record 46,000 Brits changed their legal names in 2008, including some wanting to be called Happy Adjustable Spanners, Luscious Lemons and General Ninja Ant.
Although many dropped their official names to adopt a new name for marital or relationship reasons, hundreds went through the process to spice up their lives.
The Telegraph reported that the number of people who had changed their official names in 2008 had risen by 15 per cent as compared to the previous year.
Mike Barratt, chief executive of the UK Deed Poll Service, said they expected a further mount of applications in January, owing to family arguments over the festive season that often led couples to split.
He said: “January is hectic because thousands of people have a ”new name for the new year” attitude and also because there are many marital breakdowns over the Christmas period resulting in separated women wanting to revert to their maiden name.”
Other bizarre names included Aron Mufasa Columbo Fonzerelli Ball In A Cup Boogie Woogie Brown and Tintin Captain Haddock Confused Brewer (ANI)
