Brits changing names for mad monikers like Willy Wonka, Ms Jelly St Tots

London, Dec 9 (ANI): A survey has found that a record number of people in Britain changed their names by deed poll in 2010, and the names included Willy Wonka, Miss Jelly St Tots and Mr Her Majesty The Queen.
It was revealed that the number soared from 80 percent to 90,000, the highest level ever recorded, and most paid 13.99 pounds to officially alter their names.
One such example is Austin Kettle from Ipswich, Suffolk, who changed her name to Mrs Lorraine Darla I Hate Thomas Cook And Its Associates Big Shot Company Treading On The Little Guy Leeks, after the travel firm blundered on the bride-to-be’s holiday booking.
NHS call centre operator from Aberdeen David Lennox, 29, is now Mr Her Majesty The Queen while chocolate lover John Denton, 33, from Lowestoft, Suffolk, became Willy Wonka, both to raise cash for cancer charities.
And new mum Ceejay Epton, 22, from Doncaster now has Europe’s longest name after changing it “for a laugh” after her baby was born.
She became Ceejay A Apple B Boat C Cat D Dog E Elephant F Flower G Goat H House I Igloo J Jellyfish K Kite L Lion M Monkey N Nurse O Octopus P Penguin Q Queen R Robot S Sun T Tree U Umbrella V Violin W Whale X X-Ray Y Yo-Yo Z Zebra Terryn Feuji-Sharemi.
“I thought it would help to teach my son the alphabet,” the Sun quoted her as saying.
Footie fan David Wood, 32, from Nuneaton, Warks became David Andy Manchester United Fluffyduck Cantona Wood to celebrate beating his battle with cancer.
Madcap Papy Eleungu from Chingford, Essex, changed his name to Michael Jackson in a bid to find a producer for his record.
The 33-year-old MoD worker picked the new moniker after pals claimed he looked like the King Of Pop.
“While many sought to make the alteration due to divorce, boredom or to bring a bit of cheer to their lives, others said that they just fancied a change,” a spokesperson for the Legal Deed Poll Service added. (ANI)
