Briton killed in Yemen bomb blast
July 21st, 2011 - 7:34 am ICT by IANSSana’a, July 21 (IANS/AKI) A British national was killed in Yemen Wednesday in a bomb blast, officials said.
The incident took place in the southern port city of Aden. The unnamed victim was killed near the office of a shipping company where he worked.
“We can confirm that a British national has been killed in Aden,” the British Foreign Office said in a statement.
In 2000, a suicide attack on the American warship USS Cole in Aden killed 17 sailors.
In April 2010, the British ambassador to Yemen was almost killed when a car bomb hit his convoy in Sana’a. In October, a rocket-propelled grenade was fired at a British embassy car in the capital that injured three people.
