Briton held with roasted human foetuses
May 19th, 2012 - 7:16 pm ICT by IANSLondon, May 19 (IANS) A Briton has been held in Thailand with a haul of roasted human foetuses while being on his way to sell these off for black magic rituals.
Chow Hok Kuen, 28, a British citizen, was arrested at a hotel in Thailand Friday following a tip-off. He had bought the foetuses for 4,040 pounds (over $6,300) days before being arrested, The Sun reported.
The foetuses were packed in a luggage, and were about to be smuggled to Taiwan where Kuen hoped to make a sizeable profit, selling them.
Police said Kuen, of Taiwanese descent, planned to sell them for up to 24,200 pounds. The origin of the foetuses is not known, but he was said to have bought them from a Taiwanese man.
He was held in Chinatown and faces one year in prison and a 40-pound fine.
Followers of black magic believe the unborn babies — covered in gold leaf — bring fortune.
In Thailand, black magic followers perform a ritual known as “Kuman Thong” in which dead foetuses are surgically removed from their mothers’ wombs before being roasted and covered with lacquer to preserve them.
