Britain’s biggest UFO mystery revealed by Air Force base chief
July 9th, 2009 - 2:30 pm ICT by ANI ( 19 comments )London, Jul 9 (ANI): For years, Britain’s biggest UFO mystery had been kept under wraps, but now an Air Force official has admitted that an “extra-terrestrial” craft did visit the air base at Rendlesham Forest in 1980.
Former Deputy Base Commander Col Charles Halt claimed that even though the incident was later covered up, “extra-terrestrials” had been the cause of the close encounter in Suffolk.
Halt had led a group of airmen who reported seeing a triangular UFO taking off into the air, leaving traces of radiation behind.
“The UFOs I saw were structured machines moving under intelligent control and operating beyond the realm of anything I have ever seen before or since,” the Daily Star quoted Col Halt, now retired, as telling investigator Gary Heseltine.
“I believe the objects that I saw at close quarters were extra-terrestrial in origin,” he said.
He added that the Air Force later issued “dis-information” to throw the public off the scent.
His comments were hailed as “sensational” by former Ministry of Defence UFO investigator Nick Pope.
“This may help us to finally solve Britain’s biggest UFO mystery,” Pope said.
“It blows the MoD’s line that these events had ‘no defence significance’ out of the water,” he added. (ANI)

Halt’s been saying this for years, no?
July 12th, 2009 at 7:32 pm
No, Larry Warren (i.e. Left at East Gate) has been saying this for years. But Col. Halt has refused to admidt that until now. I undersant that they are planning a new movie on the subject.

For years Lt Col (RET) Halt has been in filmed documentaries saying as much.
Nothing to see here folks, move along.

Interesting timing for an admission. Could John D be right that there’s a movie deal in the works?

Am I in a time warp? lol.
Actually Halt HAS been saying this for years.

If Col. Halt’s account remains unimpeachable (and why would it not?) then the Rendlesham Forest incident is one of paramount public importance and significance. If the military status quo for such incidents is one of complete denial and cover up, then one must conclude that Col. Halt has placed himself in harm’s way by means of legal or clandestine military retribution.
One can further conclude that Col. Halt has a great deal more to lose than be gained by making such a public statement (pending movie included). On the other hand, by making such a public statement Haul may be trying to insure his own safety though had he said nothing his safety should not be any concern.
This brings us full circle to why a man of such military stature would make such a comment. In the end, one must conclude that his statements are true.

Not to upset anyone but I think I saw this guy on Larry king and other documentaries saying that the craft was unconventional and not anything we had, so……??????? old news here.

People, go google Rendlesham Forest UFO. It’s one of the most documented UFO cases in history. Has been for years.
July 13th, 2009 at 9:53 am
yes this is not news, Halt “has” been saying this all along. There are the ufo files on the history channle for one. He’s the guy that recorded it on his hand held tape recorder.

Col. Halt has been interviewed may times and in all these years has only mentioned the lights in the sky, beams of light shooting down into the ground and lights between the trees. He admitted that they were unidentified, but always fell short of an extraterrestrial explanation. This is a very big deal!
People have died over this incident. There is much more to it than has been revealed to the public. I would expect the typical BS, debunking, diffraction from Wright-Pat. ( et al.)
But the truth is going to come out whether they like it or not.
Staff Sergeant Penistone has been on various programs revealing contact with a landed craft and I think that you might be confusing some of the witnesses.
There are many more than have gone public and perhaps its time for them to go public as well.
I have met Larry Warren. He has been to my house many years ago. I got the chance to speak in depth about the incident and I trust his account. He has been harassed for many years as well as the others. There is no fame and fortune for witnesses that come forward, just ridicule and disappointment.

john d isin’t that what i said, why does it matter if he finally came out and said that it was extraterrestrial, when debunkers and skeptics and perhaps the world does not care, i mean there are other stories of military officials claiming they had contact with extraterrestrials. If anything should be shocking it would be a director of nasa, cia, space programs. anything lessser would be taken like everything that is out there right now. I know it is dissapointing , but ufology has to try harder to make publc, gov, and military officials to come out.

He hasn’t got any more proof it’s extraterrestrial now than when he had his encounter. For him to say it now just isn’t ‘new’ news to me. I’ve had my own encounters, so I believe, but the way they ran this story is misleading to me. But they did get a bunch of us on here talking about it and in the end that’s all they wanted anyway.
July 13th, 2009 at 6:52 pm
As I said there are many more military witnesses to this encounter than have gone public. Some said “so what if they come forward, what’s the big deal”. It is a big deal if your are facing court marshal, loss of benifits, and prison for reveling clasified information. Its easy for us to sit back in our arm chairs and scoff at people who decide to reveal information, but the reality is that it is a very tough decision for them. And with the Rendalsham incident, that is over 100 people who have to make that decision, not just the handfull that have already come forward.
If this heats up, Agent Dody and Sgt. Smith will have to work overtime to keep a lid on it.
Good luck with that one.

Ok Duh
I double dog dare you to point out to point out to all us where exactly Col. Hault mentions in this lecture (or any of his previous interviews for that matter)that what he saw was ET in origin. The most he has said is that they (the lights) seemed to have intellegent control.
He knows more information than he has stated publicly and a guess now has decied to reveal it.
I guess we will all have to wait and see. I guess congessional hearing might be in order. That should piss off Col. Alexander.
July 14th, 2009 at 3:37 am
Col. Halt still doesn’t know what it was, my point is the headline of this article is misleading. Nothing’s been solved, no hearing is going to take place it will just fade away. You’re under the misconception that something has changed when in fact nothing has changed.
July 14th, 2009 at 3:43 am
I just watched the UFO Files episode on Rendelshem forest, and I was wrong. It wasn’t Halt that said it was exter-terrestrial, it was Larry Warren, disputed eye witness, that said he saw aliens. Halt said mysterious lights and unknown solid object. My bad

For any of you who haven’t read the five major papers written on this subject, don’t bother making comments till you do!

I agree “NeedToKnow”, if one is inclined to find out more, there is loads of information out there. There is also a huge amount of disinformation intended to muddy the waters.
The media has portrayed Larry Warren as some kind of kook because of his mention of Et’s. It is just not true, he is a stable and sane individual who was witness to something of extreme military significance. Anytime anyone publicly admits to having seen anything other than the standard “lights in the sky” they are branded as certifiable. The CIA (thought by the public to monitor only foreign intelligence) by its own admission has maintained a long effort to do just that (muddy the waters) and as recently as 2002 has admitted to an effort to infiltrate and monitor domestic groups interested in the subject. Mr. Warren was only one of several dozen personnel who were witness to the landing in the field. (This is not the landing in the woods that Sgt. Pennington made plaster casts of the landing gear impressions and Col. Haul displayed at the press conference at the National Press Club).
You have to remember that that this was 1980 at a time when the US was banned from having Nukes at a NATO facility. Larry belonged to a group of Airman assigned to secure the nuclear ordinance (tactical nukes at RAF Bentwaters).
For foreign craft to remotely fry the electronics on these weapons only and specifically was huge show of force. It did not just occur at RAF Bentwaters. T occurred at several other locations within NATO and the USSR simultaneously. It not the first time, an event like this has occurred. It also happed at nuclear weapons facilities in 1967 and 1975.
This is a very big deal. I applaud any military personnel who are willing to risk loosing everything to do the right thing and end the conspiracy of silence.
