Britain worried over Benazir’s house arrestNovember 14th, 2007 - 10:21 am ICT by admin
“We are very worried by the developments in Pakistan this morning which underline the need for a rapid return to constitutional rule. We continue to urge restraint in all situations,” a spokesperson of the British Foreign Office said.
Bhutto has been put under house arrest since morning, as she was going to lead a protest rally in Rawalpindi later in the day.
All the roads leading to her house have been blocked, and there is a huge presence of security forces on the roads.
Bhutto is under house arrest for the first time since her homecoming to Pakistan on October 18, ending her eight years of self-exile.
Meanwhile, The News reported that countrywide transmission of international news channels like the BBC and the CNN have been obstructed once again.
The ban on international channels in the wake of imposition of a state of emergency was lifted on Thursday, but it was clamped once again on Friday morning, just before the scheduled rally of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto. (ANI)
