Brit woman lay dead in home for five years
July 4th, 2009 - 6:06 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )London, July 04 (ANI): A woman’s dead body, which may have been lying in her home for almost five years, has been discovered in Britain.
The remains of Isabella Purves who would have aged 90 this year was found by police in an Edinburgh tenement, the Daily Express reports.
Cops visited Isabella’s home after a neighbour complained about water leaking into his flat.
They found mail sticking out of the letterbox, and a 3ft high pile of unopened correspondence.
The fact that her utility bills and council tax payments was made by direct debit had stopped anyone from noticing her absence.
Neighbours said that the frail pensioner had “disappeared off the face of the Earth” until police unraveled the case.
However, the post-mortem has dismissed any chance of foul play.
A spokesman said: “There are no suspicious circumstances.”
Now, cops are trying to trace her relatives. (ANI)
