Brit woman, disabled mum jailed for 7hrs for feeding birds
April 27th, 2011 - 5:46 pm ICT by ANILondon, April 27 (ANI): It has emerged that a UK woman and her disabled mother were jailed for seven hours for feeding birds in their back garden.
Janet McIntosh, 48, and mum Monica, 76, were nicked by four cops, who searched their home for evidence of how much they fed pigeons.
Officers quizzed them for 45 minutes each about how often they fed the birds.
“When did feeding birds become a police matter?” the Sun quoted full-time carer Janet, of Workington, Cumbria, as saying on Tuesday night.
“To be put in a cell at my age is terrifying,” said arthritis sufferer Monica.
The women were suspected of causing public nuisance by over-feeding birds, but were not charged.
They are now suing the Cumbria Police. (ANI)
