Brit tot named after curry house after spicy dish triggers his birth
October 1st, 2010 - 5:59 pm ICT by ANILondon, Oct 1 (ANI): A British tot has been named after a curry house after a spicy dish his mom ate helped in speeding up her delivery.
Baby Leo Joseph Nakodar Brown, known as Nakodar to mum and dad Esther and Paul, was born 11 hours after Esther ate a vegetable bhuna at the Nakodar Grill.
“I was quite fed up with being pregnant. I had read about the old wives’ tale that a spicy curry can help speed up delivery,” the Sun quoted teacher Esther, 28, as saying.
“So when Paul picked me up I said: ‘Let’s try the curry’.
“Later I started to feel something happening. This was my first pregnancy so I didn’t know for sure but I was in labour. I was so pleased - but surprised as you’re never sure if this sort of thing works,” she said.
Overjoyed lawyer dad Paul Brown, 32, from Glasgow, added: “I didn’t expect it to work that quickly. We now call him Nakodar. It’s his nickname and middle name. We’re so delighted the curry did the trick.”
And staff at the eaterie in Dennistoun, Glasgow, were so touched they told the first-time parents their lad can have free curry for life.
Boss Johnnie Ginda, whose restaurant is famed for its chocolate curry, put the quick birth down to the fenugreek and coriander spices in the bhuna Esther ate.
“We’re so delighted at the outcome. I have given Nakodar the freedom of our place,” he said. (ANI)
