Brit pub landlady looking for exorcist to get rid of drinks topping ghost!
October 1st, 2009 - 5:56 pm ICT by ANILondon, Oct 1 (ANI): A Brit pub landlady has revealed that she is in need of an exorcist for her pub, as there seems to be a ghost who likes to keep topping up regulars’ drinks.
Janice McCormack, 60, says the spectre is costing her a fortune as he gives away her beer.
“It happens when customers pop to the loo or put their pint down for a second. When they look back there’s an extra inch of beer. It must come from my pumps,” the Sun quoted her as saying.
Drinkers at the pub have nicknamed the phantom barman Reedy, after actor and legendary boozer Oliver Reed.
McCormack, who runs the Apsley House in Southsea, Hants, with husband Patrick, said the ghost started its antics nine months ago.
“My regulars love it but it is costing me,” she said.
“People are drinking less as their pints are being filled up all the time. My stocktaking figures are all out.
“We get more customers through the door but it seems to be people expecting a cheap, never-ending pint,” she stated.
She now plans on holding a seance to ask the poltergeist to quit, and if that fails she will seek an exorcist to get him out.
“I will certainly miss old Reedy because he keeps me topped up,” John Sanders, 27, a regular at the pub, said.
“If you drink in the Apsley you were always guaranteed a hangover - and would always have money left in your pocket for a kebab on the way home,” he explained.
But for McCormack, whose 1960s pub was formerly a Victorian girls’ school, it is not an enjoyable thing.
“I wish this spook would leave me alone. It is driving me round the bend,” she added. (ANI)
