Brit men spend just PS2.38 a year on grooming their skin!May 21st, 2008 - 3:55 pm ICT by admin
London, May 21 (ANI): The whole world might be going ga-ga with the new generation of metrosexual men particular about their appearance, but it seems male grooming has not caught on among British blokes.
According to a new research, British men are ignoring skincare products despite ad campaigns featuring clean-cut stars such as David Beckham.
Market analyst Mintel found that men spent just 2.38 pounds each on skincare last year, compared with the 602million pounds spent by women.
The report said the men’s toiletries market was worth 806million pounds, with the biggest share, 43 per cent, coming from aftershave, the Independent.
By contrast, women spent 3.3billion dollars last year on toiletries.
When asked by Mintel, just 45 per cent of men under 65 thought using skincare products was acceptable, while a meagre 17 per cent of over-65s thought the same.
Just 35 per cent of British men agreed that it was important to remain young looking, compared to 55 per cent of Spaniards and Frenchmen. (ANI)
