Brit man uses iPod to film naked woman in Oz resort
November 13th, 2010 - 5:27 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Nov 13 (ANI): A British man, holidaying in Australia, has revealed that he used his iPod to film a woman undressing, using the toilet and then showering, because he “just wanted to see her naked”.
According to the Townsville Bulletin, Tristan Francis Alain Maubec, 24, admitted to filming the 23-year-old Belgian backpacker in a uni-sex bathroom at a Magnetic Island hostel, off the Queensland coast, on November 7, News.com.au reported.
Maubec left the iPod in the bathroom on the pretence he was charging the device, but after showering the victim became suspicious when she saw it was standing upright.
At the Townsville Magistrates Court, he pleaded guilty to one count of observations or recordings in breach of privacy and was sentenced to one month in jail, suspended for two months.
Defense lawyer Ron Hinds argued his client, who has a degree in zoology and served in the UK army, was very remorseful for his lapse in judgment.
Maubec, who will be in Australia until his visa expires in January 2011, told police he only wanted to “see the woman naked” and claimed he would have deleted the clip after watching it. (ANI)
