Brit man seriously injured after sleepwalking off balcony
August 6th, 2010 - 2:32 pm ICT by ANILondon, Aug 06 (ANI): A British tourist was in a serious condition in hospital in Majorca after he fell from a hotel balcony, possibly while sleepwalking.
Aled Davies was admitted to a hospital in Majorca after he fell from his holiday balcony while sleepwalking.
The 28-year-old tourist suffered severe head and facial injuries and a broken leg after he fell 35 feet from a third floor window to the tarmac below in the seaside resort of Port d’Alcudia on the north of the Spanish island.
It is thought thet he got out of bed, wandered around the room then climbed over the balcony while he was still asleep.
His girlfriend raised the alarm at the Lago Garden Hotel Apartments at 8.30 am.
She told the police investigating the incident that he has a habit of sleepwalking.
Davies was treated at the local hospital in Inca before being transferred to the Son Dureta hospital in the island’s capital Palma.
Doctors said that his condition was ‘very serious but stable’ and they also said that he would undergo surgery. It is feared that he could lose his sight in one eye.
“We are aware of the hospitalisation of a British national in Majorca. Our consular staff on the island are providing assistance,” the Telegraph quoted a spokesman for the British Embassy in Madrid as saying. (ANI)
