London, Mar 16 (ANI): Prosecutors at Belmarsh Magistrates’ Court in London have agreed to admit Shrien Dewani, the Brit-Indian millionaire charged with masterminding his wife’s murder during their honeymoon in Cape Town last year, in psychiatric care for his own protection.

The 31-year-old, released on 250,000 pounds bail, was sent by the court to the Priory clinic for 24-hour psychiatric care following a suspected suicide attempt last month.

Following the incident, wherein Dewani had swallowed an overdose of up to 46 pills, prosecutors had said that he should be remanded in custody for his own protection.

However, on Tuesday, they agreed with his family that the Indian-origin businessman should be admitted to the exclusive clinic near his Bristol home, the Daily Mail reports.

District Judge Howard Riddle asked Dewani that he must wear an electronic tag, remain under a curfew and report at a police station every day.

South African authorities have been insisting that Dewani had planned his wife’s murder, but he has denied all claims as of now. (ANI)
