Brit-Indian bride was ’sexually assaulted before being gunned down’ in Cape Town
February 20th, 2011 - 12:49 pm ICT by ANICape Town, Feb 20 (ANI): New evidences in the murder case of Anni Dewani, the Indian-origin bride who was killed during her honeymoon in Cape Town last year, has indicated that the victim was sexually assaulted before being gunned down by the abductors.
The Telegraph quoted a witness who had seen Dewani’s body lying on the back seat of the taxi where she was shot, as saying that her underwear was below her knees and her dress was pulled up.
Besides, autopsy reports have also shown a number of dark injury marks, consistent with “finger mark” grips, on Anni’s legs.
The post mortem report appears to justify claims of the eye witness that Anni’s left arm was pulled across her chest and her hand in front of her face. The bullet that killed the India-origin beauty had passed through her hand, then grazed her shoulder before entering her neck, the paper said.
The latest revelations are a contrast to earlier claims made by the South African police based on the statements of four detained accused that Sherien Dewani, Anni’s husband, had masterminded his wife’s killing.
Earlier this week, the lawyers of two men arrested over Anni’s murder have claimed that the accused were tortured by the South African police to give their statements against her husband.
Mziwamadoda Qwabe, 25, and Xolile Mngeni, 26, were arrested after the body of 28-year-old Anni Dewani was found in the back of a taxi. Both the suspects are in prison awaiting trial for the murder and are due in court next week. (ANI)
