Brides-to-be compete for free wedding in Wellington!
September 21st, 2009 - 2:03 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Wellington, September 21 (ANI): Brides-to-be participated in an unusual competition in Wellington to win a free wedding offer.
The challenge called ‘Running of the Brides’ was organised by More FM on the city’s waterfront.
Eighteen brides-to-be participated, which saw them guzzle bubbles and cake, put on a garter, and sign a fake marriage certificate for an all-expense paid wedding.
Belinda Paiti, who is to be married on October 2 at Ohariu Farm, west of Johnsonville, ultimately took the award by sprinting hard.
“The toughest part was the sprint. There was me and this other girl, then I got this adrenaline rush and just went for it. I can’t believe it, it’s amazing,” Stuff.co.nz quoted her as saying.
She is one of the 14 children of her parents and, apparently, her experience living with so many siblings helped her in the competition.
She said: “I’m number 12. It was kind of like first-come first-served, for the bathroom, the shower, a spot in the car if you wanted to go to the beach.”
Waiti had even trained for weeks before the challenge, around Worser Bay School in an old wedding dress she had bought from a secondhand shop.
The prize she has won is a 40,000-dollar-wedding package that includes free hen and stag parties, wedding and a reception for 40 guests, apart from dress, wedding rings and a seven-night honeymoon to Norfolk Island.
In fact, Paiti’s fiance Sefton Paske had trained her and is joyous with the result.
He said: “I was ecstatic, we really wanted her to win and she did win, so you can’t ask for more than that.” (ANI)
