Jan 23, (THAINDIAN NEWS) This was an encounter that 13-year-old Walter Eikrem would surely not forget for some time now. The teenager recently had to face a rather terrifying situation when he was confronted by a pack of four wolves while returning from his school. However, with a bit of presence of mind and believe-it-or-not heavy metal music from his mobile phone, the young boy was able to ward off the animals and save his own life. The incident is said to have taken place earlier this week at the town of Rakkestad situated in the southern part of Norway.

While describing the incident, Walter Eikrem said that when he was walking towards his home few days back, suddenly he saw few animals near his family’s farmhouse along the hillside. Although initially he presumed that the animals were dogs, to his utter dismay, he later realized that it was a pack of wolves that were gradually making their way towards him. Despite the fact that the sight of the four ferocious wolves had left him petrified, he remembered an advice given to him by his mother to never run away from the animals as it would only provoke them to chase you down.

Instead of running away, the 13-year-old increased the volume of his mobile phone as he was listening to the track ‘Overcome’ by the American band Creed while he yelled at the top of his voice. The strategy undertaken by Walter Eikrem surely seemed to have worked wonders as the pack of wolves soon became disinterested and walked away without attacking the boy.
