May 8th, 2011 - 1:03 am ICT by IANSAbu Dhabi, May 7 (IANS/WAM) A book on the UAE Armed Forces has been issued to mark the 35th anniversary of the UAE Armed Forces Unification, it was announced Saturday.
Titled “The Register of Honour and Humanitarian Achievements”, the book written by Nasser Al Dhahiri was issued in three languages: Arabic, English and French.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said on the occasion: “Armed tribal men have always represented the core of the Armed Forces, the defence shield of their land and the thorn in the side of their enemies.
“They have always been loyal to their tribal leader carrying out his orders. They have always been ready to execute the assigned tasks. From their headquarters, the last defence positions, they practiced scouting and surveillance and held high their own flags, the black banners, at times of wars.
“We are proud of our loyal soldiers and pay great tribute to our dear martyrs who lost their lives in serving our country.”
