Bomb targets Israeli diplomatic convoy in Jordan
January 15th, 2010 - 1:24 am ICT by IANSJerusalem/Amman, Jan 14 (DPA) A roadside bomb exploded Thursday afternoon next to an Israeli diplomatic convoy in Jordan, but caused no injuries, Israeli media reported.
According to initial accounts, the Israeli ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom, Danny Nevo, was not in any of the vehicles when the bomb went off, about 20 km from the Allenby Bridge, which separates the West Bank from Jordan.
The convoy was apparently travelling from Amman to Israel. The diplomats were escorted to a nearby Jordanian military base and then taken to the border.
Jordan’s minister of state for information, Nabil Sharif, said the diplomats were in two cars that formed part of a larger convoy.
Jordanian security forces have opened an investigation into the blast.
