Bollywood dances greet Commonwealth Queen’s Baton
June 13th, 2010 - 1:45 pm ICT by ANIMalacca (Malaysia), June 13 (ANI): The Queen’s Baton was given a rousing welcome here as it makes its way to the 19th Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
The baton, which is on a 170,000km relay through 71 nations, was handed over by India’s High Commissioner to Malaysia Vijay Gohkale to Chief Minister Mohammad Ali Rustam in front of the Independence Memorial in Banda Hilir yesterday, The Star reports.
There was a performance of Indian dances themed “Bollywood Through the Ages” to liven up the occasion.
The baton was taken on a 17.2km run through the historic city.
The baton, which arrived in Malaysia from Singapore on Friday, will be taken to the Maldives tomorrow. (ANI)
