Mexico City, April 8 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Mexican police have uncovered 8 mass graves containing a total 59 bodies in the country. The mass graves were found in the state of Tamaulipas after the police were alerted that people travelling in a bus in the area have been abducted.

Mexican President Felipe Calderon has condemned the killings and ordered the country’s investigators to find the perpetrators.

Since President Calderon launched his operation against drug cartels in 2006, more than 30,000 Mexicans mostly civilians have been killed. Battles between rival drug cartels often lead to the deaths of civilian bystanders. The cartels also abduct and kill tourists just to send a message to the government.

The Tamaulipas state government released a statement saying that, “In the first six graves, 11 bodies were found, while 43 were found in the seventh and five more in the eighth.”

The country’s president strongly condemned the killings. In a statement issued after the revelation of the mass graves, Calderon said the mass graves “underscore the cowardice and total lack of scruples” of the country’s criminals.

Mr. Calderon also urged the investigators to determine the identities of the bodies found in the mass graves.
