Blix hopes Obama finds solution to Iran nuclear issueJanuary 21st, 2009 - 5:51 pm ICT by IANS
Vienna, Jan 21 (IANS) Former chief of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Hans Blix has expressed hope that new US President Barack Obama would find a peaceful solution to Iran’s nuclear issue, Iran’s IRNA news agency reported Wednesday. Addressing a symposium in the Swiss city of Interlaken Tuesday, Blix criticized former US president George W. Bush’s administration for its hostile approach towards Iran.
“The Bush administration avoided holding talks with Iran and chose ways of boycotting the country and positioning troops in the region,” he said.
Blix said that the major difference between Bush and President Obama was that the latter “is prepared to enter direct talks with Iran” and added that avoiding negotiations would not lead anywhere.
