Blended images depict ‘average’ female face for a country
February 10th, 2011 - 7:02 pm ICT by ANILondon, Feb 10 (ANI): A South African photographer, who has spent years compiling shots from around the world, has used hi-tech software to blend females’ pictures to create individual images to represent different places.
Believe it or not, these girls’ faces are all ‘average’ looking, reports the Sun.
But the snaps are not of real women. Each is a computer’s depiction of the ‘average’ female for a country.
More than 100 women were photographed in cities worldwide to create each individual image.
The pictures were inspired by web project ‘The Face Of Tomorrow’, set up by Mike Mike.
“The blonde hair gets lost pretty quickly when you start averaging. You’d need a population 75 per cent blonde to get it visibly remaining. You’d probably have to go to Iceland for that result,” said Mike.
He got the idea for his website while studying at Goldsmiths College, London.
“Sitting on the Underground train, I was intrigued by the sheer diversity of the place - Somalis, Indians, Americans, Zimbabweans, Scandinavians…,” he said.
“I thought ‘What is this place? What is a Londoner?’ The patterns I see are an underlying connectedness between all people,” Mike added. (ANI)
