Biden compares GOP Economic Strategy to ‘ blaming rape victims’ for being raped

Washington, Mar.20 (ANI): United States Vice President Joe Biden has compared Republican approaches on economic reform in the budget to blaming rape victims for being raped.
Speaking at a fundraiser in Philadelphia, which raised 400000 dollars for Democratic congressional campaigns, Biden turned his focus to the current spending debate in which Democrats and Republicans are fighting over how much to cut from the federal budget and said that when it came to economic matters like collective bargaining and taxpayer legislation, the Republicans were using a ” blame the victim” mentality.
The Republican National Committee has condemned Biden’s remarks.
“Using a rape analogy to describe one’s political opponents is inexcusable and beneath the office of the Vice President,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus tweeted.
The Republicans have been alarmed over record deficits and debt and want to cut 61.5 billion dollars from the current spending levels while the Democrats, want to cut far less, Fox News reports.
However, if the two sides don’t reach an agreement soon, April 8 may witness a partial government shutdown.
A bipartisan group of 64 senators (32 from each party) sent a letter to president Barack Obama on Friday, urging him to take the lead in forging a sweeping deficit reduction plan similar to his own deficit commission recommendations from last year.
Obama’s deficit commission recommendation include a sweeping overhaul of the tax code that exchanges dozens of costly tax breaks for lower individual and corporate rates, cut Social Security benefits and slash spending across the budget. (ANI)
