Bid to smuggle 17 kg crystal meth foiled in Dubai
December 21st, 2011 - 11:44 pm ICT by IANSDubai, Dec 21 (IANS/WAM) A bid to smuggle over 17 kg of illegal crystal meth, also referred to as ice, was foiled by the customs at the international airport here.
The drugs were confiscated from the baggage of three suspects upon inspection of contents, which include a microwave oven, Ali Al-Maghawi, director operations, Dubai Customs, said Wednesday.
The three suspects were arrested and referred to the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Dubai Police, he added.
Crystal meth is the crystalline form of the chemical methamphetamine. Usually crystal meth is smoked in glass pipes. It may be injected (either dry or dissolved in water), snorted, swallowed.
This drug causes numerous neurotransmitters to be released in the brain, producing a sense of euphoria that may last for long hours. Its effects include brain damage.
