Best views of ’shooting stars’ expected over the next two days
April 23rd, 2011 - 7:31 pm ICT by ANILondon, April 23 (ANI): Skywatchers are expecting to get the best views of the “shooting stars” over the next two days, when the Lyrid meteor shower reaches its peak.
Between 10 and 20 meteors per hour can be visible under ideal conditions.
Experts have said that the naked eye is best for watching the meteors and binoculars or telescopes are not required, reports BBC.
But they also said the shower is fickle as light from the Moon, which is in a so-called gibbous phase, could interfere with observations this year.
Stargazers are advised to watch in the hours before dawn to get their best views of the meteors. (ANI)
