‘Best Job in the World’ winner to get assistant
August 7th, 2009 - 5:26 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Aug 7 (ANI): Tourism Queensland is likely to provide ‘Best Job in the World’ winner Ben Southall with an assistant.
Tourism Queensland chief Anthony Hayes said the publicity stunt had so far been a great success as Southall’s blog had attracted 127,000 registrations and his Twitter followers had topped 3000.
However, he agreed that to keep interest high and build on their current numbers, they needed to keep Southall’s life interesting and entertaining.
As his duties expand to mainland destinations, he could get an “assistant’ in the near future.
“Some of it is a secret and we don’t want to destroy morale too quickly, but he is going to be as busy as he has been, but maybe he needs a helper or two along the way,’ News.com.au quoted Hayes as saying.
“We need to have a chat with him about where it’s heading,’ he added.
The 34-year-old Briton was recently criticised for not updating his blog regularly.
However, coincidentally, after the criticism he wrote a blog of almost 2000 words.
Southall defended his workload.
“Have you looked at the job specs that went out on January 12?’ he said.
“Feeding the fish, watching the whales, cleaning the pool and writing a weekly blog. Take note - a weekly blog.
“Five weeks in the job, that equates to five blogs. I am on 12 at the moment and there’s four that are waiting now. That’s pretty much telling you I am doing enough on that side,’ he added. (ANI)
