Dec 13, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Mark Madoff finally had to pay the price for what his father did. The price was indeed too high, as the 46-year-old lost his life out to the pressures in life which had come upon him as a result of his father’ heinous crime. Mark Madoff was found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Saturday. The reasons for the death has been ruled out as an act of suicide. His father Bernie Madoff, who is currently in prison serving a 150 years sentence, will in all chances be barred from attending his son’ funeral ceremony.
Bernie Madoff is currently serving jail in Butner Federal Correctional Institution in North Carolina. According to the rules at the Butner Federal Correctional Institution, a prisoner can only be allowed to attend the last rites of their immediate family members only if they have two years of the sentence left to go. Bernie Madoff was sentenced to prison on June 29 last year to a period of 150 years which is the maximum allowed. There are high speculations that the former American stock broker and investor who was accused in the Ponzi Scheme, one of the worst scams of Wall Street, will not be granted permission to go for the family mourning.
The clash between Bernie Madoff’s lawyers and the prison authorities regarding the prohibition of the criminal to attend his son’ funeral is certainly giving rise to the question of the rule as an act of public interest. Prison authorities are tight-lipped about how did the news of Mark Madoff’ death reach his father. Mark Madoff was found dead hanging from the ceiling pipe of his apartment. His son two-year-old son Nicholas was sleeping in a nearby room.
