Beijing to continue car use curbs
January 19th, 2012 - 7:57 pm ICT by IANSBeijing, Jan 19 (IANS) Beijing will continue its policy to limit car use on weekdays, the authorities said.
The existing traffic measure, set to expire April 10, was renewed recently and will remain valid this year, officials said Wednesday.
Beijing plans to keep a fifth of the city’s vehicles off the roads from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. every weekday based on the last digit of car number plates, Xinhua reported.
The measure came into effect after the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.
