London, May 25 (IANS) Beatles’ original drummer Pete Best, who hasn’t met his former band mate Paul McCartney for more than 40 years, has expressed the desire to revive their friendship saying he would like to see him one more time. The 66-year-old Best was part of the band for two years - from 1960-1962, but Ringo Starr soon took his place. He claims he and the group members are still good friends and that he wants to revive his friendship with McCartney, contactmusic.com reports.
Best said: “I would like to see Paul one more time in my life, just to catch up. Talk about our kids and grand kids, compare notes on where we have been and where we are going.
“It was Paul who actually talked the others into letting me into the band because he thought I was a good fit and they couldn’t find another decent drummer at the time. You know, as old friends go, people move in their own directions and you lose touch. We were kids back when we really hung out.”
