London, Oct 15 (ANI): Conservative Party leader David Cameron has picked Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, a Muslim, to take on the British National Party in next week’s BBC Question Time showdown.
The Conservatives announced on Wednesday that the peer will represent them in the controversial debate featuring BNP leader Nick Griffin.
The choice is being seen as a firm statement of the Tory commitment to represent all ethnic communities in Britain, the Daily Express reports.
A senior Tory insider said: “She has appeared on Question Time on a number of occasions and been impressive. This sends a clear message about the modern Conservative Party.”
Labour has already announced that Justice Secretary Jack Straw will appear on the show, which will also feature Lib Dem frontbencher Chris Huhne and writer and broadcaster Bonnie Greer. (ANI)
