Barefoot man hijacks bus with hammer
July 3rd, 2011 - 9:38 pm ICT by IANSShanghai, July 3 (IANS) Police in China’s Shanghai city have detained a man for hijacking a bus with a hammer.
The man aboard the bus running on Xincun road suddenly grabbed a hammer meant for emergency use and threatened the driver, asking him to stop the bus, Shanghai Daily Sunday quoted eyewitnesses as saying.
The driver immediately braked while the bare-footed man claimed somebody was trying to attack him, witnesses added.
Police arrived at the scene and overpowerd him.
The man will undergo a psychological test for suspected mental problems, police said, adding the driver and the bus passengers were rescued unhurt.
