Nov 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Barbie doll has been the favorite of girls and toddlers over generations in many countries but it is now making headlines for all the wrong reasons. A new Barbie doll is now facing the flak of experts for a hidden camera placed in its body. This is meant for making the kids creative but if it is used by malicious people the consequences can be quite serious. The video recorded by the new Barbie doll can be seen on the back of the doll and it can also be transfered to a PC and edited there.
Sally-Anne McCormack, a Clinical child and adolescent psychologist has slammed the doll and said that the manufacturers should have thought about the effects it can have among the users. She also said while the doll itself is harmless, it can be used in wrong ways. She added that the users should boycott this toy and opt for safer ones. She called for the boycott of the doll by all Australians while urging people to refuse to shop in any store “that justifies selling this potentially pornographic tools.” She has also counseled a number of parents.
Apart from her, Prof Elizabeth Handsley, the spokesperson for the Australian Council on Children and the Media expressed her discontent about the particular toy. Children can be manipulated by pedophiles to shoot sexual acts by using this toy and it can have devastating effects on the psychology of a kid. The doll is very new and no cases of abuse has been reported as such but the concerns raised by the psychologists seem to be logical.
