Back-to-back bombings in Pakistan kill two (Lead)
December 7th, 2009 - 11:28 pm ICT by IANSIslamabad, Dec 7 (DPA) At least two people were killed and more than 20 injured when two back-to-back explosions ripped through a busy market in eastern Pakistani city of Lahore Monday, media reports said.
An eyewitness told local news channel Duniya television over the phone from the scene that he was in a restaurant when the first blast occurred in the Moon Market.
“We ran out to save our lives but the second bomb exploded and five to six people fell on the ground,” he said.
The news channel cited officials as saying that at least two people died and 25 were injured.
Several shops and vehicles caught fire.
The bombed Moon Market is located in the city’s upmarket area Iqbal Town, where a bombing near a police station killed two policemen Aug 13, 2008.
