Baby born with no blood saved by doctors
January 27th, 2012 - 10:04 pm ICT by Aishwarya Bhatt ( Leave a comment )London, Jan 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A baby born no blood was saved by doctors after an extraordinary procedure. The baby was initially left for dead and left to stay that way for 25 minutes without any assistance.
Medics say a rare condition affected the baby in the womb and resulted in all the blood being drained from the body. When he was born, he had no blood and the doctors believed he was dead because he had no heat beat. However when doctors gave the baby oxygen and a massage of the heart, the heart started responding. He was given series of blood transfusions which eventually saved his life.
The baby is now 15 months old named Oliver Morgan. His 36-year-old mother, Katy, recently broke the story. She told the Sun that, “Oliver’s birth was so traumatic that I haven’t been able to bring myself to tell his story till now. He was born dead with no blood in his body - but now he’s sitting here smiling at me. The doctors literally brought him back to life and I will never be able to thank them enough for this wonderful gift.”
Doctors say the condition called Vasa Previa caused Oliver to bleed while still in the womb. Katy was rushed to the emergency room where a caesarean section was carried out to save her life.
