Average start for Force India in practice sessionJune 7th, 2008 - 8:48 pm ICT by IANS
Montreal, June 7 (IANS) Force India’s challenge started in earnest with Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil recording the 15th and 16th fastest times at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in the first practice session ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix here Sunday. The 4.361 km track on the outside of Montreal is typically low on grip on the event’s first day and cars slithered off the track, unable to find traction or grip on the surface.
Fisichella recorded a timing of 1:17:508 in the second session improved upon his 1:19:815 in the first to stand at 14th in the overall standings Saturday. Sutil finished 18th in the second session.
Sutil said there was still some work to be done on the mechanics of the car.
“This morning was very wet and then in the last 10 minutes it seemed to dry up so we could use the dry tyres. There is a lot of work to do as I am not 100 per cent happy with the car balance at the moment. It could be the tyres and the graining, but there is still some room for improvement. We need to fix it for tomorrow,” said Sutil.
Heavy rain added to the challenge and both drivers waited before switching over to dry tyres for a final run.
“I think it is a problem for every driver around here, particularly with the low level of downforce we run at the track. We need to improve in a few areas still and there was some graining with the tyres, but I think we can find some more tomorrow,” said Fisichella.
