Average British household watches more than a day’s TV each week
February 11th, 2010 - 6:12 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, Feb 11 (ANI): Brits watch more than a day’s TV each week, a new survey has revealed.
According to the latest Trends in Television report, the average British household was glued to the telly for more than 26 hours per week in 2009.
The report, brought out by the UK’s Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA), said average daily viewing of TV rose 1.5 per cent to 3.96 hours, reports News.com.au.
The study also found that 85.6 per cent of households have digital TV as opposed to basic cable. In 2007, 28.3 per cent of homes did not have a digital provider.
Also, about 94 per cent of individuals watched TV at least once per week.
Analysts say the rising level of TV viewing is due to a combination of financial woes keeping people from spending money out of the home and because the data was collected during winter months when people were less likely to be outdoors. (ANI)
