Sydney, June 13 (ANI): An Aussie man has been charged with imprisoning a woman for over a year in a Sydney unit, forcing her to work as a prostitute and pocketing all her earnings.

Haytham Abuquta, 25, reportedly controlled the victim, 29, using a Taser stun gun, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.

In a hearing before the Parramatta Bail Court, Abuquta was charged with aggravated sexual assault of the said woman in Auburn.

According to police documents, the woman was working in a Guildford brothel when she met Abuquta.

She told cops that the duo became friends and Abuquta ‘convinced’ her to move in with him.

But soon Abuquta allegedly snatched her mobile phone and passport.

According to the woman, he then forced her to work as a prostitute at various brothels, for 12 to 18 hours a day, court documents state.

She said Abuquta told her she owed him 20,000 dollars, and pocketed all the money she earned.

She has also accused Abuquta of forcing her to have sex with him.

Court documents say on June 10, the woman was using a laptop when Abuquta grabbed it to see if she was sending emails.

Police say he punched her when he found no emails, called her a liar, Tasered and raped her.

The woman escaped later that day, when he allegedly took her to see his lawyer over an unrelated matter.

She called the cops, after which she admitted to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where several Taser injuries were found on her body.

When quizzed by police, Abuquta is believed to have told them that the woman was his girlfriend and she was ‘a prolific user’ of the drug ice.

Abuquta was refused bail. (ANI)
