Aussie duo heads to New Zealand with “boobs on a mission”!
October 6th, 2009 - 5:08 pm ICT by ANIWellington, Oct 6 (ANI): Two Aussie women, who run a cabaret show involving boobs, have decided to go on a ‘boobs mission’ to New Zealand.
Emma Powell and Bev Killick are well-endowed comedians, who hope to get Kiwi women to love their breasts just as much as they love their own less-than-perfect ones.
“All us ladies reach a stage where we go from fair maidens to becoming mothers, and our perky little breasts become floppy bits that fall all over the place,” the New Zealand Herald quoted Powell as saying.
“The more we learn to accept and love our less-than-perfect body parts, the more confident we are going to feel about ourselves, and beyond the laughs, that is the message we hope to bring to our fellow ladies in Kiwiland,” she said.
Powell, whose mother is former Australian senator and feminist Janet Powell, says it is this serious theme underlying the laughter that has made their boob-show a success back home.
Their 18-month run in Australia saw 200,000 people paying 8 million dollars to see their breasts “singing” to the tune of Abba’s Mamma Mia and do tricks such as “the burger” and “the baby”.
The playful, fleshy cabaret show ‘Busting Out!’ was then played at Auckland’s SkyCity Theatre.
Killick says most of the audience have been women over 35, and that’s the way they like it.
“It feels most rewarding when we get grannies coming up after watching us and saying, hey I don’t feel bad about my body any more,” Killick added.
The ladies will be dedicating October 7 performance as a fundraiser for Starship Foundation, and October 8 to Breast Cancer Awareness. (ANI)
